What is new in iTivity 8.0 ?

First release of iTivity iServer/iAgent 8.0.XX for the Linux/UNIX
platforms.

BUG FIXES :

1- A number of bug fixes relating to the automation subsystem
have been made. Of major note, are the changes made to better
support the automation xml file parsing. Now we have a very
linient system that gives the author more freedom to use
white space of any kinds among many other changes.

ENHANCEMENTS :

This release major enhancement is the automatic scheme to send
files from the iAgent back to the iServer. This is the reverse
of what the automation system does ( in part ).

In summary this scheme allows the user to configure the iAgent
to check a specific directory every N-seconds, and to look for the
presence of any NEW files. If a new file is found it will be
automatically sent back to the iServer and placed in the central
directory for all new incomming files. After the file has been
successfully sent to the iServer then a it is moved to an archive
directory in the iAgent for logging/tracking purposes.

Uploaded file naming scheme:

We leave this completely at the end user discretion. A good
typical file naming scheme to use which avoid duplicate files
in the iServer itivityin directory would be something as follows :

[unique-iagent-identifier-string]-[date]-[time]

The above scheme would allow for unique file names generated
from any iAgent.

iAgent configuration settings:

On the iAgent there are 3 major settings to configure for
auto-file-upload scheme. The are :

itivityout -- Path to the directory to poll for files to upload.
-- Defaults to $INSTALLDIR/itivity_data/itivityout.
-- If the directory is NOT present one automatically
created.
-- Typical default paths would be as follows :

LINUX/Unix
/usr/lib/iTivity/iAgent/itivity_data/itivityout

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTivity\Unattended iAgent\itivity_data\ititivityout

itivityarchive -- Path to the directory where to place the uploaded
files.
-- If this directory is present, then the iAgent
will move the file to this directory for
archiving purposes; otherwise, it is assumed
to have disabled this feature.

-- Typical default paths would be as follows :

LINUX/Unix
/usr/lib/iTivity/iAgent/itivity_data/itivityarchive

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTivity\Unattended iAgent\itivity_data\ititivityarchive

checkToSendFilesSeconds

-- The above setting expresses the interval in
seconds to poll for changes to be uploaded
to the iServer. The default setting is 60.

Linux/UNIX configuration settings.

-- Below are an example of the settings configured
under the configuration file :

/etc/iTivity/iAgent.conf

Processor_rc/toSendFilesDir=/var/iTivity/itivityout
Processor_rc/sentFilesDir=/var/iTivity/itivityarchive
Processor_rc/checkToSendFilesSeconds=60

Windows Unattended iAgent Registry ( 32 bit systems )

HKLM\Software\Tridia\iTivity\Processor_rc
"checkToSendFilesSeconds"=dword:0x00000060 (2)
"toSendFilesDir"="c:\itivityout"
"sentFilesDir"="c:\itivityarchive"

Windows Unattended iAgent Registry ( 64 bit systems )

HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Tridia\iTivity\Processor_rc
"checkToSendFilesSeconds"=dword:0x00000060 (2)
"toSendFilesDir"="c:\itivityout"
"sentFilesDir"="c:\itivityarchive"

iServer configuration settings:

For the iServer the only feature to configure is the
directory where to place the uploaded files. The default
path used is :

LINUX/Unix
/usr/lib/iTivity/iServer/itivity_data/itivityin

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTivity\iServer\itivity_data\ititivityin

If the directory is NOT present, then the iServer will assume
this feature is disabled.

To CONFIGURE a different path one can use the following
configuration settings :

Linux/UNIX configuration settings.

-- Below are an example of the settings configured
under the configuration file :

/etc/iTivity/iServer.conf

iasdb/recvFilesDir=/usr/lib/iTivity/iServer/itivity_data/itivityin

Windows Unattended iAgent Registry ( 32 bit systems )

HKLM\Software\Tridia\iTivity\iasdb
"recvFilesDir"="c:\itivityin"

Windows Unattended iAgent Registry ( 64 bit systems )

HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Tridia\iTivity\iasdb
"recvFilesDir"="c:\itivityin"
